Fear Not the Cadillac

Upon first laying eyes on the Pilates equipment, many folks are somewhat intimidated.

Come on, you wonder what's up with
those fuzzy hanging straps, right?

Well fear not my friends. Although one can hang upside down from those fuzzy straps, one is not ever required to do so.

In Pilates, we learn to engage our core to both stabilize and mobilize the spine.

The cadillac is one of the best pieces of equipment to explore safe movements of the spine. With this one piece of equipment we can be either supported or challenged as best meets our individual needs.

The springs of the cadillac can support us as we learn to articulate (roll) through our spine.

Gentle. Easy. Nourishing to the spine.

The springs can also help lift us as we gain the strength to lift ourselves up through a "sit up."

Just challenging enough. Strengthening.

Those pesky springs can also be reversed to increase the challenge as we roll through that same "sit up" type movement.

Progress. Growth.

Of course rolling through the spine is only one of the many movements that can be explored on the cadillac. This same method of exploring a movement with support and then progressing to increased levels of difficulty is available in a variety of movements with the cadillac.

We can safely move through the shoulders, hips and knees using this same methodology.

See? Not so scary at all. Just safe, smart, exercise. Modifiable and suitable for all fitness levels.

Curious to see what you can do? Let's find out together.
