Week Eight: Our Tool box

We were recently given the wonderful gift of a fabulous, pink, tool box. It suits us, I do believe.

Watch out, somebody's fabulous!

It even came equipped with a variety of sturdy, not-kidding-around, tools.

Check me out. Measuring. Screwdrivering, and hammering.

But of course, a wellness studio needs way more tools than the plethora depicted above.

We need no less than 3 types of sage sticks for smudging.
Clear out all the bad vibes.

I love our tool box.

I find it is a wonderful image for what we hope to achieve with Thrive.

What on Earth, Melissa?

Hear me out.

Fitness. Health. Wellness. These are goals that folks work toward every day. But often we work in just one way.

Maybe we hit the gym - having a routine with our favorite equipment. Maybe we walk or run. Maybe we play a sport or do something like dance, martial arts or yoga.

We do our thing and we think, "Exercise - check!" for the day.

In my experience as a group fitness instructor and with private training - I've discovered that people aren't often satisfied by the results achieved this way.

We wouldn't think that our tool box was well-equipped if it only had one item in it - would we?

So why do we assume that we can create a healthy body with only one or two tools?

I also find it meaningful that our toolbox contains non-traditional tools like sage, essential oils, and reiki-infused candles.

At Thrive, physical fitness is only part of the whole.

Obviously we offer safe, effective exercise, but it's also our hope to create a safe space where the heart and spirit can also be nourished.

Safely moving the body, breathing, sweating, reaching goals, making progress - all of these have a positive impact on our emotions and on our energy.

So here we are, eight weeks in - and anxious to fill our toolbox with tools for every body.

This week we finished up February, and hopefully we were able to connect with our heart - adding self-love and loving kindness to our tool repertoire . As we head on into March we'll be working with nutrition and rest, and filling our toolbox with healthy nourishment and quality sleep.

So many tools. We must each find and use what works for us and set aside the rest.  Knowing that we are perfectly capable of building our own path to wellness - we just need the right equipment.

On to March!
