Week 15! Onward!

This week  I have noticed the progress that results from hard work springing up all around me.

Out in the world I'm noticing yards being tended and green buds striving for the sun.

In the studio I'm noticing the subtle changes that develop with a commitment to healthy, safe movement over time.

I'm noticing the yoga students having the strength, stability and flexibility to breathe deeply in what had previously been a posture full of tension. I'm noticing them use their new knowledge to make subtle adjustments to a posture to make it safe and comfortable for their particular body on any particular day.

In Pilates I've had the privilege to see the huge smiles of pride when someone completes a movement that had previously been "impossible."

In barre, legs lift higher, laughter rings louder as we sweat and struggle and curse those blue exercise balls together.

In the upstairs studio space - a seemingly endless list of projects awaits our good 'ole elbow grease.

Through it all though, I must constantly remind myself - progress not perfection.

Whatever our exercise of choice - we must always remember that the end goal is not to do anything "perfectly" but rather always to be moving forward. In yoga, once an asana is too pretty or too effortless it is time for something else. It is the struggle, the effort, the work that is ultimately the goal - rather any end result.

Know that the journey is endless and that the journey is the goal.

Wellness is an ever changing state as we travel through life, so it is important to let go of the "goals" and allow the body to be as it is, without judgement. Some things will change, some never will - but we can always be breathing, moving, learning, growing.

We feel blessed to travel this journey with you.
