Fighting Itch with Essential Oils

Now you all know that we love to diffuse essential oils at Thrive for their lovely fragrance, but we also use them for many other purposes including cleaners, skin salve, decongestant chest rub, lip balm, and often we apply them topically to treat stress and anxiety.

The options are endless!

This week we had some success with treating itchy bug bites with an essential oil blend.

We diluted our blend in grapeseed oil (a neutral carrier oil), and applied it to the skin using a roller bottle.

Our blend included Roman Chamomile and Lavender to sooth the skin, and Peppermint to decrease inflammation.

Generally speaking, it is safe to apply diluted essential oils to intact skin. However, when it comes to complimentary and alternative methods to treat ailments - it is always wise to seek the advice of your medical provider first.

Adding essential oils to your arsenal for treating common ailments and general household use can be quite an enjoyable experience - both in delightful fragrance and surprising effectiveness.
